Changed venues today. Didn't get a workout in last night, mainly because I didn't feel like it by the time I was done with the thing I had been working on, around 0400. To make sure that I got the workout in today, I did it somewhat earlier than I have been the past few days. Nothing too exciting... did a short version of the hip opening workout, primarily because I'm a little too tall for the space provided. Unsurprisingly, not being able to extend my arms fully is a bit of a distraction, and thus I decided to go with the more ground-based workout. Was feeling a bit tight tonight... I think the lack of cardio is starting to affect me again. Just have to get through the next few days, I suppose. Not much else to say... trying to keep getting the workouts in. We'll see how that continues to go. I want to get at least one more in while traveling, preferably at least two. That's all for now, will try and get an abs workout or something in tomorrow.
Well, didn't manage to do a workout last night or this afternoon, but convinced myself to get one in tonight before sleeping. Not much to it, really... more basic poses, light stretches, and hip opening moves. Just having the motivation to actually do the workout was certainly more impressive than the workout itself was. I'm still woefully behind for the month, although certainly not irredeemably so. Still, have to have some commitment to getting workouts in over this trip. Still not planning on getting one in tomorrow, although there's an outside chance I'll have a similarly late workout. Had a good conversation on the way over here which will hopefully help motivate my job search, but we'll see what happens. Anyway, most likely will do a workout Sunday and not before. Until then...
As expected, didn't do a workout last night. I planned on doing one somewhat earlier tonight, but got involved in an optimization problem, and therefore didn't actually get to the point of working out until much later than planned. Finally went with another light free form workout. I think my wrist is slowly healing, but it's definitely a much slower process than desired. But it's one of those that you can't push, so I'm trying very hard to be patient and wait until it's actually fully healed before I start doing things with it again. Not much else to say about the workout, standard light fare. My legs seem to finally be getting a little stretched out again, not sure why they were staying tight for so long. Will continue to try and get workouts in at least every other day if not more frequently while away from home. Until next time...
Did yoga for the third day in a row. Apparently I can't convince myself that I really don't care about whether I keep my monthly streak going or not, since I'm now trying to recover from totally flaking out last week. Enh, there are worse things. Pretty similar to yesterday, except that I did the free form before the DDR, and the hip opening after. Other than that... more or less a repeat of yesterday. Thus, I really don't have anything much to say about it, so I'll give it a short entry tonight. We'll see if I can do four in a row tomorrow. Until then...
Managed to do yoga for the second straight day for the first time since the end of last month. Pathetic. Busted out a little more today... did a short hip opening workout before playing DDR, and then did a short free form workout afterward. I'm still trying to work some tightness out of my outer hamstrings, and it would probably be helpful if I actually tried to work it out instead of just hoping that it will fix itself, which is what I mostly seem to be doing. Nothing too exciting on the pads tonight, just some endless on standard. Endless is kind of fun, although I wish I were good enough to play on heavy for any length of time. Of course, my partner isn't and probably doesn't ever care to be, so I guess I wouldn't be playing on heavy while she's around anyway. That's all for tonight... will try and continue the trend tomorrow.
I've been playing a lot of DDR on standard lately, mostly to accommodate my partner with endless play. I think it's actually helping my overall game a bit, since it means I get to practice seeing certain patterns at a slightly less frenetic pace. Really, the best part is that it allows me time (usually) to set myself up correctly, so that I'm not doing weird double-steps in order to hit the arrows. I started off tonight with a few songs on heavy, but decided I was more in the mood for a marathon run, so switched to endless standard. Went 75 minutes before I decided to call it a night... even on standard, that starts to get tiring after a while. Although I have to admit that it was really more leg fatigue than anything else. Which is fine in a way... nothing wrong with building up the leg endurance. On the other hand, it's not giving me all that much of a cardio workout when I'm playing on standard, so I need to start stepping up if only for that reason. Went with a short free form workout before the play tonight. Took Monday off entirely due to nasty headache, and just played DDR last night without a workout. My inconsistency continues to frustrate. I was really hoping to be "even" before heading to Chicago for the holidays, but the only way that can happen now is a workout tomorrow and one Friday afternoon... not too sure how likely that is. Anyway, that's it for tonight. Will most likely play again tomorrow, and possibly incorporate some kind of hip opening workout as well. Until then...
Well, haven't managed to do any yoga in the last week. I'm really just experiencing massive failure of the yoga motivation right now. I think the only reason that I managed to get to it tonight is because my performance on the pads was so bad that I felt I needed to do something else in order to consider it a workout. At least the last week hasn't been a complete failure on the workout front... I did play DDR on Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday as well as tonight, so I've been getting something in, anyway. Play has been slightly better except for tonight... feels like I'm finally getting a few of my old skills back, not that I really had all that many to start with. The workout tonight wasn't even all that exciting, just a basic free form. Still, better than slacking off yet another night. That's all for tonight... I've been doing a reasonable job of getting on the pads, so hopefully I can get that to spill over a little into doing workouts as well. So until next time...
Slacked off for another couple of days. I just can't seem to get into the workout groove right now... it's rather annoying. Played some DDR tonight... wasn't too bad, actually. Definitely one of my better sessions recently, although I did keep failing songs right at the end. But better there than at the beginning. The session was a little short because the program crashed in the middle of one of the endless streams... rather odd. When restarted, it wasn't recognizing the pads, and so I decided just to call it a night. Did some light yoga afterward, mostly stretching as usual. I keep being surprised that I'm not doing a better job with the workouts, but I really shouldn't be... just like anything else that I know I should be doing, and have been avoiding. Really, my past success in this area is the anomaly. Anyway... will hopefully start picking it up again, since I don't particularly want to end the month short, and I probably will be if I don't get motivated soon. So until next time...
Had a slightly better night on the pads, although still not that good. Went with all 8 footers that I haven't passed before... had about a 50% success rate with that, which is a bit lower than I'd like. I would like to say that having stops in a song is a pretty weak way of making it more difficult, since it really just means that you need to have played it often enough to remember it's there, or very quickly recover from the stop. But I digress. I think part of the reason that I've been failing so much more often lately is because I'm trying to actually do the steps "correctly" instead of just moving really fast to compensate. Obviously still needs some work. Went with the hip opening workout after the DDR... it was a little easier tonight, since I was warm from playing. That also means I have to be more careful not to overdo it on the joints, though, since the muscles have that greater flexibility. I should really be doing this workout on a near daily basis, though, especially while waiting for my wrist to heal so I can do regular workouts properly again. Anyway, that's all for tonight... hopefully I'm now off to a good start, and will keep it up. As always, we'll see. Until next time...
Had another bad night on the pads. It was slightly better than last night, in that I was coming near to passing songs, but I was still failing a lot. Managed to play somewhat longer, although still not nearly as long as I'd like. I want to be playing an hour or so a session, and I'm lucky to get half an hour in currently. Mostly this is because of my ankle getting tweaked after I play for a little while. Maybe I should try wearing my ankle brace, although I'm somewhat hesitant about what that might do to my footing. Anyway. Went for a light stretching yoga workout afterward, emphasis on the stretching. I've been noticing that my legs, particularly my outer hamstrings, are much tighter than they really should be. My suspicion is that I just haven't been doing enough stretching, and so they're just staying tight, so hopefully increased practice will fix that.
It's been a fairly weak month in terms of my practice, particularly the end of the month. Lack of motivation is the main problem, although certainly I've had some issues with injuries to deal with, and still do. But I can work around those, at least to a limited extent, and just haven't had the will to do so. Admittedly the overall workout picture is a little better than one would think from the entries, as I did play DDR several days that I didn't do a yoga workout. Anyway, once again squeaked in the last workout to hit my target. I'm really hoping that I get off to a good start in December, because I'm not really sure I'll be willing to play catch up again at the end of the month if it comes to that.
